Official Rules and Regulations – May 2025 Update

The Morocco Dance World Cup (MDWC) is organized by Otman Benjelloun, a self-employed event organizer specialized in cultural and artistic events.
The competition is held under the supervision of the
World Confederation of Dance Professionals (CIAD).


1. Participants:

  • Morocco Dance World Cup welcomes participants of all nationalities to the Moroccan Dance World Cup Finals. However, the organizing body reserves the right to reject participation from any country at its sole discretion.
  • All participation applications must be submitted by the director of a dance school, club, association, company, or by a certified dance professional.


2. Age Categories:
The age categories are as follows:

Child (4-7 years), Kids (8-11 years), Juniors (12-14 years), Youth (15-17 years), Adults 1 (18-21 years), Adults 2 (22-35 years), Master (36 years and above), Professional (no age limit).

3. Dance Categories:
The competition includes the following dance styles:


Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Flamenco, Bolero, Oriental Dance, Baladi, Folk, Wings, ATS, Tribal, Urban, Hip Hop, Pop, Fusion, Bollywood, Afro, Folklore, Latin Dance, and Special Performances..


4. Qualification:

  • To participate in the final gala of the Morocco Dance World Cup (MDWC), all participants from around the world, including the host country Morocco, must submit a performance video to the event management. The management reserves the right to accept or reject any participation at its discretion.
  • Morocco Dance World Cup (MDWC) reserves the right to invite any dancer directly to participate in the finals event.


5. Country Representation in Morocco Dance World Cup (MDWC):

  • Each country is initially allocated one qualified spot per specified category. Participants may enter multiple categories. This allocation is not a strict limit; the competition management reserves the right to grant additional spots if needed.

6. Age:

  • The participant's age is calculated as of January 1, 2025.

  • There is no maximum age limit for participants.

  • In all solo dance categories, participants must compete in the age category corresponding to their age.

  • In duets, small groups, and large groups, the age category is determined by the oldest participant in the group.

  • MDWC reserves the right to request age verification via passport or identity card.


7. Entry:

  • The school director, instructor, or troupe leader is responsible for submitting accurate and correct information in the entry system.

  • The information provided to MDWC will be used in all competition documents such as programs, certificates, and others.

  • By entering the Morocco Dance World Cup, all dancers agree that MDWC and its partners may record videos and photos of them at any time during the MDWC finals, including during their performances, events, and on-site locations. MDWC and its partners may use these videos/photos in advertising and promotional materials, on the MDWC website, social media, and press distribution.

  • At the MDWC finals, the number of dancers performing on stage in small and large groups will be routinely checked and compared to the number registered in the MDWC system. If the number of performers exceeds the registered number, a fee of 50 Euros per extra dancer will be charged to the participating party (school, company, troupe), in addition to the standard entry fees.


8. Registration Deadline:

  • Interested parties will be notified of the registration deadline for the MDWC finals, and the date will be published on the official event pages on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.


9. Registration Fees:

  • Participation fees are set as follows: 50 EUR for solo, 60 EUR for duet, 100 EUR for small groups (less than 13 members), and 150 EUR for large groups (13 members or more).

  • The MDWC official website (www.moroccodanceworldcup.com) confirms the registration fees and payment details for the MDWC finals each year. Fees must be paid upon registration and acceptance of the participation request.

  • Registration fees can be paid through various available methods (PayPal, bank transfer, money transfer, etc.). Please contact the MDWC administration to arrange the suitable payment method.

  • Registration fees are non-refundable.


10. Awards:

Awards are given for all categories and dance styles as follows:

  • First Prize: Certificate + symbolic gold medal (for solo and duet), and a trophy (for groups and formations).

  • Second Prize: Certificate + symbolic silver medal (for solo and duet), and a trophy (for groups and formations).

  • Third Prize: Certificate + symbolic bronze medal (for solo and duet), and a trophy (for groups and formations).

All participants receive participation certificates.

Special Awards:

  • Best Dancer of the Event: Commemorative trophy and a free participation grant for selection in CIAD circle events.

  • Best Group of the Event: Special trophy plus a free participation grant in the 2026 edition of the event where they competed.

  • Inspiration Dancer Award: Commemorative trophy and a free participation grant for selection in CIAD circle events.

Additionally, three other awards are granted in the solo, duet, and group categories as free participation grants for the AltaDanza Paraguay event.


11. Dancer Substitutions / Alternates:

Dancer substitutions are permitted under the following conditions:

  • In duets, one dancer registered in the entry request can be substituted.

  • In small or large groups, up to 50% of the dancers registered in the entry request can be substituted.

  • No substitutions or changes are allowed for solo dancers participating in the MDWC finals.

If a qualified solo dancer is unable to perform for any reason, they cannot be replaced by another dancer performing the same routine unless approved by the competition management. The management reserves the right to accept or reject the substitution request based on organizational circumstances.


12. Categories and Performance Schedule:

  • Generally, the order of categories follows ascending age, with the youngest dancers performing first and the oldest performing last. However, MDWC reserves the right to adjust the schedule and order of categories as needed, taking into account stage conflicts or costume changes within the final timetable.


13. Time Limits:

  • Time limits apply to all dance performances in the Morocco Dance World Cup (MDWC) finals.

  • The MDWC entry system will not allow uploading music that exceeds the time limit, and no additional time requests will be accepted.

  • The time limits are as follows:

    • Maximum of 3 minutes for solo and duet performances in all categories.

    • Maximum of 4 minutes for small and large groups.

    • Maximum of 5 minutes for the professional category.

  • Up to 5 seconds of silence may be added before or after the music track; this does not mean an extension of the performance time beyond the limit.

  • Performances and music must not exceed the allowed time limit, but music may be shortened if necessary.


14. Music:

  • If the music contains offensive, obscene, or racist language, the performance may be disqualified and the participation considered permanently canceled.

  • Music must be submitted to the event DJ (technical specialist) at least 30 minutes before the event starts.

  • Music should be provided via USB flash drive or a similar storage device.


15. Judging:

  • The judging panel at the MDWC finals consists of dance school directors, senior dancers, and internationally renowned dance instructors, typically made up of 3 to 4 members.

  • The judges' decision is final and binding, with no room for appeals or discussions.


16. The Stages:

  • Information about the stage dimensions will be available on the official event pages on Facebook and Instagram in due time.

  • The organizer provides these dimensions but they are subject to change due to organizational circumstances, and MDWC assumes no responsibility for such changes.

  • MDWC reserves the right to change the competition venue at any time.


17. Stage Entry:

  • Details about stage entry will be confirmed in due time, and all participants will be notified via email.

  • The MDWC final gala is open to the public through dedicated ticket sales, with ticket prices usually set between €10 and €20 for friends and family of the participants who wish to attend.

  • All participants, including dancers, teachers, and the audience, are expected to respect all competitors and participating countries at all times. Political statements, verbal abuse, or any form of disrespect will not be tolerated. Violators may be removed from the venue, and their dance school or country may be permanently excluded from the event.


18. Dressing Rooms / Backstage:

  • Only participants and their designated supervisors are allowed access to the dressing room area during the MDWC event.

  • Parents are not permitted to enter the dressing rooms or backstage areas unless registered as the participant’s official supervisor.


19. Costumes:

  • Costumes worn at the MDWC final event are not required to match those worn in the qualification video.

  • Costumes must be appropriate for the dancer’s age and the style of dance.


20. Dinner Reception:

  • An official dinner reception will be held after the MDWC final event in honor of all participants.

  • All dancers, their companions, and parents are entitled to attend the dinner. Participants will be notified of the dinner’s location and time via email in due course.

  • The dinner aims to provide a space for networking and interaction among participants, organizers, the judging panel, and event partners.

  • The attendance fee for the dinner ranges from 20 to 30 euros per person, including the meal.


21. Insurance:

  • The organizing committee holds no responsibility for any injuries or accidents that may occur to any individual attending the event, including participants, instructors, or audience members, while present in the theater, dressing rooms, backstage, on stage, or any other area within the event venue.

  • It is the participant’s responsibility to obtain their own insurance coverage for any incidents or injuries during their attendance at the event.


22. Travel and Accommodation:

  • The organizing committee is not responsible for any travel or accommodation costs related to participation in the MDWC event.

  • The organizing committee offers a parallel tourist program including accommodation, local transportation, and attendance at supplementary activities. For details about the program and participation fees, please contact the organizing committee via email: otman.benjelloun@gmail.com

  • In cooperation with its tourism partner, the organizing committee can handle all participant travel bookings, including flight tickets, hotel accommodations, and other travel requirements, at highly competitive rates. To benefit from this service, it is recommended to contact the above email.


23. Refunds and Cancellation:

  • No refunds will be issued to participants who cancel their registration for reasons other than medical or urgent personal circumstances (e.g., death of a family member or similar). By registering for MDWC, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the non-refundable policy.

  • In cases where a dancer cannot participate due to medical reasons or urgent personal circumstances (such as the death of a family member), refund requests will be considered upon submission of supporting documentation as deemed appropriate by MDWC.

  • If MDWC must cancel any event for any reason, a 100% credit notice will be issued for the fees paid by each dancer, and registrations will be automatically transferred to the next MDWC finals. This credit can be used to cover registration fees for future MDWC events.
